Abstract

Biography

Manuel Gausa Navarro is Full Professor of Urban Design and Advanced Planning since 2017 at the Department of Architecture and Design, University of Genoa (ADD-UNIGE) where he was also Full Professor of Landscape Architecture / Architectural Design from 2015 to 2017 and Associated Professor on Architectural Design from 2008 to 2015. Director of UNIGE Doctoral School in Architecture and Design ADD, University of Genoa. He is also director of GICLab, Research laboratory in architecture, urbanism and landscape at UNIGE-DAD. Co-founder of IAAC, Institut d'Arquitectura Avancada de Catalunya, from 2003 to 2006 he has been President of the Scientific Committee and from 2012 to 2015, Scientific Dean. He is currently Lead Professor in Advanced Knowledge Theory and Member of the Scientific Committee as IAAC-Senior Founder. From 1995 to 2000 he was Professor of Design at the Escola Tècnica Superior d´Arquitectura de Barcelona - Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (ETSAB- UPC). He was also a founding member, Vice-Cultural Director and Professor of Architectural Theory and Design at ESARQ-UIC- Escuela Superior de Arquitectura de la Universidad Internacional de Catalunya (1997-2001). 

He contributed scientific academic advancements in Urban Design and Territorial Planning connected to Ecological Resilience, Agro-cities, Urban-rural strategic planning, Food and Territories at international symposia, conferences, key-note lectures and with a wide scientific production (books, essays, magazines and conference proceedings). Visiting professor at various international universities such as ETSAB-Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Elisava-Barcelona, Faculty of Architecture of Nancy, Faculty of Architecture of Montpellier, Faculty of  Lisbon, Faculty of Architecture of Stuttgart, ETSAM-UPM Escuela Superior de Arquitectura de la Universidad Politecnica de Madrid, Lebanon American University, Saint Louis Faculty of Architecture, Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto, University of Seoul, Faculty of Architecture of Montevideo.
