Abstract

Saeed Talebi Editor at IgMin Research

We aim to foster research partnerships that contribute to a swifter expansion of global knowledge.

Biography

Dr Saeed Talebi is a Senior Lecturer at the College of Built Environment and Course Leader for Quantity Surveying at Birmingham City University. He also holds the distinguished title of Visiting Fellow at the School of Engineering, Design and Built Environment at Western Sydney University (WSU), an institution that ranks among the top 2% of global universities and is renowned for its pioneering research. This honour underscores Saeed's contributions to innovative and impactful research.

He has also received accolades as a Future Leader in Research and Teaching from the Global Leadership Forum for Construction Engineering and Management. He is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

With extensive professional and managerial experience in both the UK higher education sector and the construction industry, Dr. Talebi currently serves as the Course Leader for BSc Quantity Surveying at BCU. This programme is one of the most substantial and strategically important courses within the College of Built Environment, offering full-time, part-time, and degree apprenticeship routes, as well as affiliations with Transnational Education partners.

Saeed maintains an extensive network of industry partners with whom he collaborates on research projects, delivers R&D initiatives, and executes industry-driven projects. This collaboration extends into the educational sphere, ensuring the curriculum's relevance not just in his own modules, but also in the comprehensive programme he leads. Such a robust network also serves as a vital conduit for providing graduate job and placement opportunities for students.

Saeed's research interests focus on the intersection between theory and practice. He has led research teams as either Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on funded projects, particularly in the field of employing emerging surveying methods and machine learning techniques for automated defect detection in infrastructure.

Saeed is the Associate Editor of the Lean Construction Journal and has served as guest editor for various distinguished journals. He also acts as a referee for numerous prestigious publications and has served as a reviewer and lead assessor for national and international research initiatives.

Saeed delivers a variety of subjects to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, including digital design and construction, project planning and control, cost management, procurement and contract administration, commercial management, civil measurement, construction innovation, and lean construction.

He is an active member of the International Group for Lean Construction (IGLC), Lean Construction Institute-UK, and the Global Leadership Forum for Construction Engineering and Management. He is also the founder of the Innovation in Research and Industry Symposium (IRIS), a platform that spotlights ground-breaking developments and innovative research in the built environment.
